My New Pincushion/Coral Bead Plant

So, as you know, I love flowers and plants.  I find that putting flowers and plants around me that I enjoy really makes me happy.  Anthony and I were at the Home Depot yesterday and I found the cutest little plant…A “Pincushion Plant.”  It’s simply adorable!  It is tiny (no bigger than a fist) and the mounded little plant is covered in teensie little orange berries that resemble tiny ripening tomatoes.  The plant makes me think of a fun tree out of a story book.  See…   🙂

The berries are not poisonous, but are not edible, and according to the label, it is supposed to be kept in a shallow dish with water provided at all times.  I did some research on the web though, and it sounds as though many people have trouble growing these little plants.  I’m hoping I don’t have the same fate, because it’s just rediculously adorable and totally makes me smile every time I look at it!  Does anyone know anything or have experiences with the pincushion?  I’d love to hear more!

Also, I recently added my first anklet to my Etsy store.  Summer is just upon us, so I want to start adding some summery items and anklets are one that I love for the summer.  This one is made with soothing, yet fun colored beads in a variety of materials.  There are pearls, czech fire-polished faceted glass, clear glass rondelles with foiled centers and others, with sterling silver findings and a spring lock closure to compliment.  Check out my first anklet!  You can click here to buy it!  Happy Summer!

Just a Tid-Bit

A tiny interesting thing about me… shortly after moving to Baltimore, I fell in love…

with breakdancing.  haha…betcha you didn’t think I was going to say that.  I did.  I found the most wonderful group of people and fell in love with the community, the culture and the dance.  I worked at it for a while, but I couldn’t take the late nights.  I still love dancing around on my wood floors or when I’m out and about with my IPOD, but with my knee being messed up these days, I can’t over do it.  Sad, but true.  I thought I’d share a video with you that I LOVE…it’s a bunch of clips of a movie/documentary on breakdancing called, “Planet B-Boy.”  Truly amazing talent!  Check it out!

WordPress Changes

Alright, for all of you bloggers who do not use WordPress, the newsflash is that WordPress has a NEW dashboard.  It seems more powerful and it offers a lot, with regard to improvements, but it is STUCK ON STUPID in some areas and we are still waiting for WordPress to work out the kinks.

That said, my only major complaint is that they never sent an email out to prepare you for the changes.  Some people were even in the middle of an edit and the whole screen changed on them, causing a lot of uproar in the WP community.  In my humble opinion, the new dashboard, in all of its functionality, is actually quite a nice change.  The blogging stats they provide are WAY powerful, and although there are a lot of people complaining, who just want the old dashboard back, CHANGE IS GOOD.  I can’t seem to get my widget edits to save, but other than that, I’m not having any major issues.

I’d like to know how other WP bloggers feel about the changes.  Are readers seeing anything new?  What is your overall experience, given the new dashboard?  Any thoughts on your experience?

After The Weekend And Into The Week…

Well!  It was SOME weekend!  Anthony and I traveled four and a half hours to Pennsylvania and enjoyed wonderful company, good times, delicious food and the makings of new memories.  What more can one ask for?  I’ll tell you what…Some more Snickers fudge from Smicksburg!  :O)  Mmmmmm!!!  So good!   (If anyone has a great recipe for it, please share!)

It’s Tuesday now.  I’ve settled back into Maryland and our usual daily life.  It’s getting warmer out but still a bit chilly.  I do, indeed, welcome the increased daylight that we have been gifted with as a result of daylight savings time.  I’m looking forward to working in yard with the sun on my back, tending my flowers and hopefully a few vegetables this year too!

On another note, I’ve been full of some thoughts lately, that I will share.  You see, I want to GIVE to charities and other good causes.  I mentioned it to my husband and his response was aghast because, although sales are picking up, I’m not exactly rolling in the crafting dough.  I guess, my thoughts are that, when you give, it always comes back to you.  I would like to be able to give a percentage of my proceeds to a good cause.  I want to do more than be an artist who makes money for their own good.  I’d like to be an artist who, not only defies the phrase, “starving artist,” but I’d also like to be an artist who makes money for the good of others so they don’t have to “starve.”  It’s funny that this was on my mind, because today I was asked to donate some jewelry for a silent auction that will benefit a local charity called, “Cops n Kids.”  I am so happy to be asked and I will most certainly be donating!  In the meantime, I suppose I will continue to bounce my thoughts around and perhaps God will bless me with continued answers.

I made some new necklaces last night and today, and I’ve got more ideas brewing in my head, so I want to create before they escape me!  Here are the two that I finished and listed:

Red Hot Wood Necklace:

and

Black and True Blue Necklace

I’m debating whether or not to make coordinating earrings and bracelets.  I’d love to post polls on my blog.  I’ve seen people do that before, but I’m still too new to blogging.  I’m not savvy enough to have the knowledge.  If anyone knows how to insert such widgets, I’d love the help.  In the meantime, I’ll be on a mission, surfing the net to find out.  Have a wonderful evening!

P.S.  I’ve got some great new artists to feature soon!  Their write ups are in the works.  Stay tuned to my blog to see who they are!

GUESS!!!

So, my blog posts were interrupted this past weekend.  Instead of writing, HERE IS A COLLAGE OF OUR ACTIVITIES, EVENTS, AND HIGHLIGHTS OF OUR WEEKEND.

MY ACHING FOOT!

Once upon a time, I was jogging on the treadmill and feeling extra-energized.  Given the added burst of energy and feeling a little Super Woman-esque, I upped the speed.  While running at a brisk 8 mph (AKA “Speed of Light”), one of my strides came down like a ton of bricks.  My left knee bobbled with pain and reminded me that I was not the Bionic Woman after all.

It’s been about a month now and I am still having pain in my knee.  In fact, sometimes I have to walk with my left foot pointing outward to alleviate the pain and I KNOW that’s not right.  Last Friday, I had an MRI done to investigate further.  I still haven’t heard the results from the MRI, but last night my foot swelled up on the outside, got red hot, turned black and blue and was full of pain.  So, I wrapped the foot, iced it and elevated it.  This morning it still hurts.  I would really like to get back to jogging, but it doesn’t look like that is going to happen anytime soon.

At least my work isn’t affected by this…I can still sit and wrap jewelry, paint, scrapbook, talk on the phone and be on the computer, which is my saving grace!  I’m off to check on my etsy store now…hoping for some sales, hoping for more hearts (yesterday I had 56) and I’ve got to refine my store policies.  I leave you with pictures of my foot and apologize if feet gross you out.
